Platinum palladium prints are widely known as the finest photographic prints available. They are the most stable of all photographic prints. When properly made they will last as long as the paper they are printed on with no fading. The process dates back to the late 1800's and was utilized by artists like Paul Strand, Edward Weston, Alfred Stieglitz, Laura Gilpin, Irving Penn and many other great artists.
In short....... The prints are made by mixing platinum and palladium metal salts with light sensitive ferric oxalate. The mixture is then brushed onto fine paper by hand. After drying, the print is contact printed with a negative the same size as the print. The print is then developed and processed to archival standards, dried, flattened, spotted and signed.
